Getting Back Into The Swing of Things

Okay so I haven't been the most motivated person the last while. It has been so long that I can't even begin to remember when I used to do (well attempt at least) all of this stuff in a day. Now if I get 2 things done on my to do list...I have counted the day as successful.

It has now been a full year since my gym "incident" with my head....yep that means that I basically didn't work out for a year...yikes huh!

Since I have been going to my new doctor I have been feeling better and better as time passes. my joints and muscles still have issues most days. A light at the end of a tunnel appeared when my one elbow can now straighten after being slightly bent for um...lets say about 4+ months. It feels SO good to straighten arm and stretch my muscles. Yippy!

So I am now going to try to (without excuses...mind you) to go to work every day, and work out 3 days a week and also strive to cook dinner most days as well...amongst all of the day to day other stuff...and who can forget about cub scouts every wed.

All I can say is that I have the best hubby in the world that will help if not do all the laundry, dishes, chores, light grocery shopping in addition to taking care of me when I am having an off day....what he doesn't realize is that I am slowly training him to be my slave!!!! wohahahahah (my evil laugh). No I'm just kidding....I am truly grateful for him and everything he does.

To break up or to NOT break up

So a while back I had a small bad experience with my doctor's office staff. I called in (and I never call the Dr.) when I wasn't feeling well at all and I knew it wasn't normal and I got the brush off and the answer well a stomach bug has been going around. So I was bugged but just let it go until the next time I had to call in. I was so annoyed that I got my sis to talk to her Rheumatologist and got the name of a different Dr. so I could get a second opinion.

So over the past 2 1/2 months as I have been waiting for my appointment I have been thinking about if I should "break up" with my current doctor and go to this new one. Also I was stressing about what to say to my current doctor without feeling stupid or bad for not going to him any longer.

Well, I saw this different doctor today and he seemed great and was also nervous about some of the medication I have been put on. I have been very nervous and bummed that I was put on such a harsh medication which causes horrible horrible birth defects especially since I specifically told my doctor we wanted to think about trying maybe next summer time or. Come to find out this harsh medication stays in my system for up to 2 years after I stop taking it. There is a different medication that will pull this harsher drug out of my system but from what this new doctor said is not too pleasant and that I wouldn't really like being on it (i.e at least 3 weeks of diarrhea).. fan-freakin-tastic.

So, at this point I have no idea what is going on with me, my body, or my doctors...but I do know that my old doctor is getting the BOOT...sayonara buddy!

My FAV blog/website

Okay the last little while I have been completely obsessed with this blog and now just recently it was made into a website. Most of you don't know this but when I was first starting college I wanted to major in Interior Design. I was sorta scared to try it out and then found out that to be pretty successful you should own your own company/store. Owning my own company is something that totally does not interest me.

So..... I just drool over all the items in this blog and other magazines and websites.... aren't they fabulous?! Check it out for your self. http://cocokelley.blogspot.com or http://www.cocokelley.com

Family Boating Day

Okay so this last weekend I went boating with almost all of my family. We all packed up some goodies and stuff for a BBQ and then headed to the lake! It was my nephews birthday party so we all played on the boat and in the sand and waves. We had a fantastic lunch of hot dogs cooked by me. :)

After lunch I headed out on the boat to have some fun. After giving all the kids a few rides on the tub then me and 2 of my sisters go out on the 3 man tub. In an effort to keep my dad from driving the boat like a mad man we also had my 5 year old niece with us. He was driving the boat nice and easy and then all of a sudden he hit a wave just right and on accident he flipped us all out of the tub. We didn't have any pictures or videos of us but this video is pretty close to how we flipped.

It was really fun but I hurt my arm during my crash. My arm is pretty painful but the tub ride was a TON of fun...it reminded me of the good old days boating with the family when we were younger.

Results

I realized that I am bad at providing the results of my tests to people. So everything ended up to turn out great. I finished up the heart monitor test and then had to wait 3 more weeks to get in to see the Cardiologist. During my appointment (after tons of questions about me and my family history) he thought it wasn't a very serious problem. He mentioned that my heart itself is fine but the nerves that control the speed of my heart is what is causing the problem. So, since he said that I had only passed out the once in 5 years and that I wasn't too concerned with it changing or affecting my life that I would not need to go on any medication. HOORAY! He also mentioned that his earlier thought of needing a pace maker was a option for me but it was a very very long way down the line. DOUBLE HOORAY!

I have also been told by my other Dr. that it is time to get off prednisone. YIPPEE!!!!! I have been off the sauce for almost a week.... I feel pretty good for the most part. I am tired a little and sore and stiff especially in the mornings and evenings but hey I'll take.

Heart Monitor Test is DONE

All I can say is....HOORAY!!! I am finally done with wearing my heart monitor. For those of you that didn't know I had to wear a heart monitor for 21 continuous days. That meant I had to wear electrodes and leads (the wires) that connected to my monitor 24/7 for 21 straight days. It really sucked for a few reasons....

1. Its sorta embarrassing
2. It was a HUGE pain in my rear.
3. The electrodes gave me welts/blisters on my skin.
4. From time to time I would rip an electrode off from my body on accident if I caught my wires hanging out of the bottom of my shirt...OUCH!
5. If I roll around at night I would constantly roll on top of the monitor waking me up.
6. The monitor would sometimes go off (very loud screeching) at random times....the best was when I was in the middle of a meeting with total strangers.
7. Working out with it was a pain.
8. Always had to find pants or skirts with pockets so I could hide the monitor better.
9. And last but not least was having to disconnect the monitor so I could shower but still having to keep the electrodes still attached.

None the less...it's all done and I am glad! Now the next step is to see an Arrhythmia specialist.....

Tilt Table Test

I promise to finish my second Disneyland post with pictures...a little late. However, I thought I would write about my tilt table test that I had done this morning. So my doctor ordered this test so long ago when I passed out at the gym and hit my head...yadda yadda that old story. So, as a result I had to do a bunch of tests and this was one of the ...I was thinking and hoping it would be the last one. I guess I was wrong. :(

What they do for this test is lay you down on this table for 20 mins and hook a bunch of electrodes and wires up to your chest... I think I had about 20 or so then I had a blood pressure cuff on both arms plus and IV. After you have been laying down for 20min then they tilt the table to a 70 degree angle and you stand there are 45 min to see if anything happens. The nurse takes and records my vitals every min (crappy for her). Lucky for me I got dizzy and passed out after only 7 min. I am thinking this means a ton more tests for me. CRAP....I will just have to wait and see what all the doctors have to say...until then I've been told no more running for me. I guess now I really do have an excuse for getting plumper.
