Recap Of The Last Few Weeks

Okay I figured that I had not posted on my blog for a very very long time. As a recap from the last post I have is this:
  • We waited as patiently as possibly for our NEW kitchen to arrive and then be installed.
  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE my kitchen by the way...it exceed my expectations by far. I promise to post pictures of it...one of these days.
  • We then finished installing all of the kitchen appliances the following weekend.
  • After that we took a short break from house work and projects (mainly because we were burnt out).
  • Then Ryan had a mile marker birthday (30 years old).
  • The one surprise that I actually was able to pull off for his birthday was that I got the day off work for Ryan and then planned a day of fun for us.
  • I swear I changed my plans for his birthday what felt like a million different times (without him even knowing because I was trying to keep it a surprise). I started to stress myself out a little bit because we still had some projects left to be finished for the house. So what we finally ended up doing was having a small get together for friends (the day after his birthday) and then had his entire family over for dinner on Sunday.
  • Amongst all of the birthday plans and fun Ryan's brother Mike came over multiple different times to help us finish hanging our new interior doors for the house. He also helped us get our TV hung on the wall above the fireplace. I am so thankful that he was able to come up and help as much as he did. All of these plans would not of been as perfect without all of his and Ryan's hard work to get the house projects completed in time.

It was a lot of planning and hard work but definitely worth it. Ryan is such a wonderful man and so patient and willing to go along with any crazy idea or request I have...so I am glad that I could do a few things for him on his special day..uh I mean special birthday weekend. :)

Grrr...I say GRRRRR!!!!

Okay I am grrrrr..ing because I just talked to the cabinet people after I had to email them again to get someone to call me that was supposed to call me. Anyway, the conversation basically went like this.... When are you and Ryan free to come for an appointment because we don't have your kitchen design drafted up but that doesn't take long. This guy tells me he has to talk to his drafting department to see if they can get it done by monday or tuesday of next week. Keep in mind that I was originally told that we would be done in 5 weeks. You may be wondering when the 5 week deadline is done....ya you guessed it! 5 weeks is next tuesday....friggin cabinet people! He then calls back and leaves me a message saying that he can't meet until Wednesday and that we are looking like we will have the cabinets the first week in november. NOVEMBER!!!!!!! I know that it is only about 2 weeks that it has been pushed out ...but no apologies...nothing from this guy (which was nice btw) and he told me that I was the "squeaky wheel" in a joking sarcastic tone. He hasn't seen squeaky yet. I WILL be his worst nightmare if he doesn't get our friggin cabinets in now. I am so past the point of being patient and nice with everyone (as you can all tell.... I am at my breaking point). The kitchen has been completely removed, gone, none existent, zilch, zippo.... for probably almost 2 months. We eat out or get take out for every meal. Sorry for such a negative and ornery post but I needed to vent so that I won't yell at the cabinet guy. The only thing I wish they would of done is let me know that we weren't going to hit the 5 week deadline....I guess there are some communication problems between some of the groups at that company. LAME LAME LAME... I wish I had my cabinets in now... I don't want to wait any longer.

Tagged By Lisa

Okay I know I just did a post similar to this one but unless you all want to hear about my house again then this is what you get. :) I will post soon enough about the house I am just too lazy and tired these days to get the pictures off of the camera.

Okay here are 7 random things about me. Enjoy my random-ness.

1.I eat ice cream with a fork. It is not a make or break situation….if there is only a spoon in which I must eat my ice cream then so be it but I would definitely prefer to eat it with a fork. Now here is my reasoning…. If you eat it with a spoon there is always some ice cream that gets stuck/frozen to the spoon which takes extra effort to get it out.

2.I am in the process of trying to see if one of my kitties (Tipsy) is smart enough to be an outside kitty. She is driving me nuts being inside and begs constantly to go outside…but I am afraid that she will have a hard life outside…you know cars and other mean cats and all.

3.I love love love Halloween….it seriously is one of my most favorite holidays…mainly because you get lots of candy and get to decorate your house in way cute Halloween stuff which includes lots of skulls which Ryan likes. Plus there isn't all of the hype that x-mas usually has about gifts. I like Christmas don’t get me wrong but I have always had a special place in my heart for Halloween.

4.We have about a billion cars at our house right now. We have 3 daily drivers and then 5 others that don’t drive that will be restored one day including my new little Austin Healey…hooray for me. :) I know I am spoiled.

5.I swear I am getting carpal tunnel from painting sooooo much. I painted my kitchen and all of the trim/casing for the house this weekend. The following morning I had a hard time moving my wrist. The worst part of that is that I am not finished painting. Ugh I still have one more coat to paint in the kitchen and then the remaining base boards for almost the entire house. Wish me luck that my wrists don’t fall off.

6.Like my friend Tiffany….I fall asleep to almost every movie that I watch not in the theaters. If I am in the theaters I would say that I have about 95% chance of not falling asleep. Now if I am watching any movie new or old if I am at my house I am always asleep about 30 min into the movie. I try so hard to stay awake but it just does not work.

7.The last random thing about me is that I am excited for the snow to come so that I can go snowboarding with my hubby. Ry got a new board this year so it will be very fun this year. I am actually getting good enough that he doesn't have to wait for me every few hundred yards…he only has to board slower than normal now. Which means that I am improving because is actually a pretty okay boarder…hooray for me!

Status of the House

I know I haven't posted anything new in a long time. So, here is a quick run down of what has been going on. Basically just house work. Here are the details and progress of the house. We finally have all of the floor installed and Ryan sanded it on sat. He will have to sand the floor about 4 times or so with different grits of sand paper to get it ready to stain/seal it. So, we are both hoping by this coming sat the floor will be all finished and then it is on to the waiting game after that. Since the sander is very loud Ryan sent me out shopping on sat while he continued to work on the house. I have been look for a new rug. I have searched high and low for a rug that is contemporary but not too contemporary and that will pull all of the colors of the rooms together. So, I found this rug at home depot... what do you think? Or does anyone know where I can find roughly a 5' x 8' rug for not a ton of money. I don't really want to pay more than $150 -$200 unless the rug is really really good quality.

So, besides rug shopping we also picked out the style and color of our cabinets. We are going to have a dark brown with red undertones for the color of the cabinets and the door style will look like this but only the brown color. So the cabinet place says they are out about 4 weeks. We could of gotten on the list a long time ago but wasted a lot of time with a few small details. Oh well live and learn....next time I'll try to decide faster. Either way the house will be mostly back together in 4 weeks....just in time for Halloween. Hooray! I love Halloween...amost as much as I love the thought of no more house projects. :)

Lets all rejoice in the "Passing"

Tipsy (the cat) has passed her rubber band with easy at 6:05pm last night. Ryan and I are proud of her...both kitty and rubber band are doing well. hahahahah

Okay here is the story to go along with the end results....
It all started on Monday when Ry and I went out to buy our new TV. It is the biggest TV I have ever owned.....it rocks. Getting back on track a little bit now so on Tuesday I went to our cable company and picked up a new HDTV box. Ryan and I were like little kids on Christmas morning unwrapping everything and hooking it all up. So, Ryan being Ryan shot a rubber band at Tipsy (one of our cats). I swear she is crazy sometimes because she will play with anything for what seems like 8 billion years and has never had any problems. However, we turn around about 2 min later to Ryan saying "did she just eat that rubber band?". So I immediately grab her and stick my finger in her mouth to try to find it. Nope, it is completely gone. She devoured it! So I try to make her drink water in hopes that she would throw it up.... but nope in true cat form she just sits by her water and looks at me and swear if I could of read her mind you would of been saying you dummy I am as sure as hell not drinking water especially if you want me to drink it.

I call the vet the next morning to see what I could do. She tells me to watch her for the next few days and if she acts sick in anyway to bring her in. I ask what will be done if I do bring her in. She explains test and x-rays will be done and then exploratory surgery to extract the rubber band. Come to find out that the surgery is a min of $600. YIKES!

Needless to say we were very excited that Tipsy "passed" her rubber band with ease. I am just glad that I don't have to pay for her to have surgery now. Hooray for no surgery! :)
